Explore the intersecting practices of art and science in this engaging presentation by Smith, the Principal Investigator of the ongoing Mars Phoenix Mission and Thomas R. Brown Distinguished Chair of Integrated Science at the University of Arizona’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, as he talks about his involvement with the instrumentation for the Mars Pathfinder, Mars Polar Lander, and current NASA Scout Phoenix Missions. As much about the nitty-gritty of space exploration, Smith’s experience as a scientist also highlights the importance of creative problem-solving and an embrace of collaborative practice.
